Abstract

The Role of Whole in the Philosophy of Comenius and Patočka. – The contribution describes the phenomenon of whole in work of Comenius and Patočka from the phenomenological view. In every situation of our life a whole must be present. But this is possible only the condition of life in essential questioning. This intangible whole Patočka calls Idea. To be aware of Idea, we must be awaken by questions surrounding us, and that is education and upbringing. Therefore our great thinkers are always philosophers and also pedagogues. Into this scope belongs also the theologian, philosopher and pedagogue Johann Amos Comenius along with Jan Patočka.
