Infl uence of Internet Discussion Comments on Pupils‘ Use of Language Means

Abstract

In the article we focus on the research of the eff ect of internet comments
on pupils’ expressing as well as the character of their following responses
in the discussion. Th e research tool included an “online” scientifi c article with
discussion comments, which appeared in four diff erent versions: A) positive
comments supporting the main article’s ideas, B) comments questioning or
belittling the information of the article, C) negative comments expressing fear,
D) insulting comments. Th e results show diff erent pupils’ expressions in the
discussion in connection with the comments. Th e pupils’ comments diff er not
only in the used language means, but also in the proportion of affi rmative or
disagreeing replies or expressing the feeling of uncertainty.
