Abstrakt

This issue of the journal focuses on supporting individuals in education and its significance across educational levels and domains of personal and academic development. It presents a collection of studies that reflect the historical evolution of counselling systems, empirical analyses of contemporary counselling practice, psychological factors influencing learning, issues related to health literacy, and specific methodological approaches to student support within higher education curricula. The individual contributions demonstrate that educational support is not confined to a single domain or level but constitutes a continuous process linking systemic structures, institutional measures, and the individual experiences of learners.

Attention is given to historical context, such as the development of educational and psychological counselling in Czechoslovakia, contemporary forms of university counselling, and individual psychological factors affecting academic success and student adaptation, including academic self-efficacy and health-related preventive measures. The issue also presents methodological studies focused on integrating student support directly into the curriculum, fostering key competencies, and utilizing digital technologies to enhance reading literacy among early-grade students.

A common thread across all contributions is the conceptualization of educational support as a complex and multidimensional phenomenon that bridges historical experience, current practice, and innovative approaches. The issue demonstrates that effective support requires coordination among educators, counsellors, institutions, and students themselves, and that it is essential not only for overcoming difficulties but also for developing learners’ abilities, competencies, and potential at different stages of their educational trajectories.
