Abstract

Jan Hus as Teacher (II.): His Requirements towards Students, University Graduates, during his Rectorship. – Dealing with the role of Jan Hus as Rector of Charles University, the author focuses on Jan Hus’s perception of pupils, students who graduated from the Faculty of Arts. On the basis of graduation speeches the basic features and ways of behaviour are pointed out, which Hus was expecting from University graduates. The justification for awarding the academic titles is discussed, which was given at the end graduation speeches. Such admonition passed on to students upon award of their academic degrees often prompted the graduates not to stop looking at the final reason of all actions and their lives, to avoid acting on the basis of current motives, but strive for unity, which has to manifest in their words as well as deeds. Both for graduates and teacher it holds true that, in the first place, their roles are those of responsible service that should be visible in the society. This cannot be achieved well, if the student does not strive, in a continuous manner, for acquiring learning on the one hand, but equally for cultivating their spirit on the other. This is to mean: An academic’s task is care of the soul.

PhDr. Bc. Zuzana Svobodová, Ph.D. vyučuje na Ústavu etiky 3. lékařské fakulty Univerzity Karlovy v Praze, na Teologické fakultě Jihočeské Univerzity v Českých Budějovicích, na Katedře teologie a filosofie Jaboku – Vyšší odborné školy sociálně pedagogické a teologické, dále učí studenty UK Evangelické teologické fakulty a je lektorkou akreditovaných kurzů dalšího vzdělávání pro pedagogické pracovníky. Zabývá se filosofií výchovy, dějinami vzdělávání a zkoumá vztahy náboženské a kulturní vzdělanosti.
