Abstract

The face in post-factual society. – Following article is trying to outline the problematics of face how it is conceived especially by Emmanuel Lévinas, thus face like meeting with other. This face is not comprehended as a theme, in this face we can see the pure otherness transcending to Infinity, which means to God. But how can we deal with this issue in postmodern period? Can other be conceived as a measure of morality or reflection of my own responsibility? The face as a complex is a significant symbol of Lévinas’ philosophy. It is something reflecting our responsibility for other, something ordering “You shall not kill”, it is a term for a relationship. At the same time, it constitutes a fundaments for being in two, for dialogue of a man with other or a man with Infinity, with God. This article is asking for the possibilities of finding a truth in a postfactual period when everybody has his own truth, in period demanding certitudes, where an incertitude make us fear. Now it is the time to take a responsibility for our behaviour.
