Abstract

Dear readers,

from the very begining of our e-journal PAIDEIA we have an epigraph, whose author is Radim Palouš. This philospher together with Jaroslava Pešková has formed philosophy of education as a postgraduate program at Charles University. Both founders were disciples of Jan Patočka. This marks the begining of a new period of Czech philosophy of education; a new period, as Radim Palouš never forgets to mention, there already had been two great stars – Jan Amos Comenius and Jan Patočka.

On 6th of November Professor Radim Palouš celebrated his 85th birthday. This double issue of e-journal PAIDEIA brings together texts of his colleagues and of students. They congratulate their teacher and friend and thank for his care of the soul that never applies only to an individual, but to all who are willing to open.

An article about the Problem of Corporeality is written by Nadežda Pelcová, Anna Hogenová submits a Heideggerian muse over Hölderlin verse. Mikuláš Horský writes about the idea of the Good and Jana Dlouhá ruminates over a human learning. Irena Vaňková is in her article inspired by verses of Jan Skácel and Zuzana Svobodová compares life to liturgy. Lenka and David Kramský ponder over humanities, David Rybák pursues thinking of Jaroslava Pešková, Jana Sturzová deals with the problem of meaning in education, Michal Slaninka thinks over teacher’s authority and Taťána Göbelová reminds non-indifference stories in the Old and the New Testament. Jakub Hajíček, Kateřina Marková, Miriam Prokešová and Tereza Kralíčková have also submitted their gratulatory texts for this issue.
