Abstract
Dear readers,
the idea of the current double issue is to look back at the October conference Role of personalities and institutions in the development of education in a European context. In this sense, the reader will find here both – contributions from the conference, as well as their further worked up in details versions.
The Czech translation of the text from Professor Dietrich Benner and associate professor Dariusz Stępkowski shows internal assumptions and links in establishment of pedagogy at important thinkers of modern times. Prof. Gerald Grimm describes the aspects of professionalization of the Austrian elementary schoolteachers in the second half of the 19th century. Andrzej Murzyn in his text ponders philosophical and education implications of cosmopolitanism. Professor Anna Hogenová in her article examines the main purpose of education as Comenius and Patočka reveal. Nadežda Pelcová deals with phenomenological interpretation of Comenius by Jan Patočka and Klaus Schaller in her text The Second Life of Comenius. Zuzana Svobodová follows the same theme in her own text. David Rybák draws the assumptions of contemporary humanity and Michael Hauser looks at the problem of education in the current political and economic order. Zuzana Kubišová engages the problem of a nation and nationalism. And finally, Jan Županič gives a portrait of a remarkable historical figure – Dionysus Grün. We would also like to remember Tomáš Foltýn, philosopher and poet who passed away at the age of 30. You can find a short excerpt from his thesis in this double issue.
