The Literacy, Preliteracy and Education Journal is a peer-reviewed journal which specializes in the field of literacy and education in their broadest terms. Its goal is to mediate new knowledge in the field and thus to provide impulses that will stimulate further developments in the field. The Journal deals with reading, mathematical, informational and science literacy and pre-literacy and with related topics.
The Journal also serves as a basis for the development of educational psychology, primary pedagogy and departmental didactics, and special and social pedagogy as research subjects.
We will publish theoretical, empirical, methodological, didactic and systematic review, discussions, reports and reviews.
Submissions that fall into the studies and research memo categories will be subjected to a peer-review process. A ruling on acceptance into the review process will be delivered within 30 days from the submission of the paper. The results of the review process will be delivered within 60 days from the ruling of acceptance into the review process. The rest of the submissions will be reviewed by the editorial board. We will publish only papers that have not been previously offered to or published by another journal.
The Journal is published three times a year; one English issue of the Journal is published each year.
Papers are published in Czech, Slovak or English.
Recommended length of papers
- Theoretical, methodological and overview papers – 20 SP, i.e. 36,000 characters
- Research memos – 20 SP, i.e. 36,000 characters
- Discussion – 10 SP, i.e. 18,000 characters
- Reports and reviews – 5 SP, i.e. 9000 characters
Before the submission of a paper the author must send a structured abstract (both in Czech and English) which will provide a basic outline of the study (800-1500 characters with spaces). The abstract should introduce the reader to the issue, the approaches towards its solution and the main conclusions in a clear and concise manner. The abstract is structured into these subsections:
- Purpose
- Design/structure
- Findings
- Conclusions
If you are submitting an empirical study, your abstract should include a description of the research sample, methodology used and main research findings.
Guidelines for authors: The citation and redaction norms used by the Journal are based on the APA, Sixth Edition standard.
