Representation of moral elements in stories for children

Fairy tales have irreplaceable value in children's lives. All over the world, they serve many children as stories that draw them into a magical world of miracles, supernatural phenomena, remarkable beings and unexpected endings. The themes of fairy tales often depict universal truths and values of the people and cultures from which they come, which are still valid today. Most of the themes are related to moral values and material gains, the victory of good over evil and the predominance of justice. They point out that intelligence and humility are more important than physical strength, and that kindness and hard work are often rewarded. The aim of the paper is to point out the basic representation of moral elements in fairy tales for children. The characteristics of some fairy tales are briefly described, pointing out their moral message. The research part consisted of a group interview with children of preschool age who commented on the fairy tale The Wolf and The Seven Little Goats, in which they assessed and evaluated the elements of good and evil. We found that preschool children in this fairy tale can correctly identify good and its manifestations, and they can also correctly evaluate evil and its manifestations.
