This first issue of the journal Literacy, Pre-literacy, and Education for 2023 offers insights into current issues related to literacy in the context of education. It focuses on inclusive education in the mainstream education system and presents research studies, theoretical analyses, and examples of good practice that examine the challenges and solutions related to supporting children, students, and learners with special needs, as well as their parents and teachers. The published studies include research from various levels of the education system, ranging from the underachievement of adolescent girls in institutional care to the influence of teachers on university choice. The issue concludes with a discussion piece analyzing the values of inclusion, exploring both its positive and negative aspects.
