Call for papers: “Teachers in the Grip of Contemporary Changes”

2025-11-28

The journal Pedagogika is preparing a 2027 special issue titled “Teachers in the Grip of Contemporary Changes.” The aim is to provide a critical and research-based perspective on how ongoing reforms, curricular adjustments, technological pressures, increasing classroom heterogeneity and changing societal expectations impact teachers as the key agents of school practice. Although educational change has been widely discussed in Czech pedagogy over the past thirty years, deeper analyses of its concrete implications for schools and teachers remain limited.

The editors invite theoretical, review, methodological and empirical studies that examine transformations in teachers’ professional demands, working conditions, professional strain and burnout, as well as studies exploring the implications of AI, economic factors, or diverse stakeholder pressures on teachers’ work. Comparative and longitudinal analyses drawing on previous Czech pedeutological data are especially welcome.

Abstracts (up to 2 pages / 3,600 characters) should be submitted by 30 April 2026 to pedagogika@pedf.cuni.cz
with the note “Monočíslo 2027.” Authors will be notified by 30 May 2026, and full manuscripts (based on accepted abstracts) are due by 31 December 2026. All submissions will undergo standard peer review.

Guest editors: Petr Urbánek, Andrea Rozkovcová and Zdeněk Beneš.
