• Call for papers: “Teachers in the Grip of Contemporary Changes”

  The journal Pedagogika announces a 2027 special issue titled “Teachers in the Grip of Contemporary Changes.” It aims to analyse how long-term reforms, innovations, technological developments and societal pressures are reshaping teachers’ work and school practice. The issue welcomes theoretical, review, methodological and empirical studies focusing on changing professional demands, teacher workload, working conditions, or international comparisons.

  Abstracts (max. 3,600 characters) are due by 30 April 2026 at pedagogika@pedf.cuni.cz
  with the note “Monočíslo 2027.” Final manuscripts are expected by 31 December 2026. Guest editors: Petr Urbánek, Andrea Rozkovcová and Zdeněk Beneš.

• Call for Papers: English Monothematic Issue 2026

  “Teaching Psychology for Non-Psychologists in Secondary and Tertiary Education”

  We welcome theoretical, review, methodological and empirical papers on curriculum innovation, pedagogical strategies, technology‐enhanced learning, assessment, student well-being, cultural and ethical issues, teacher development and other evidence-based practices.

  Please submit a 2-page abstract (max. 3 600 characters) to pedagogika@pedf.cuni.cz (subject “English mono 2025”) by 30 September 2025; notifications will follow by 31 October 2025. Full manuscripts are due 30 April 2026, with publication scheduled by the end of 2026.

• The journal Pedagogika is preparing a special issue for 2025 on the topic "From School Quality to System Quality"

  The aim of the upcoming special issue of Pedagogika is to capture evidence of both successes and challenges in school environment, as well as the conditions necessary for successful implementations, in order to share lessons with a broader community of those invested in education in our country.

  We welcome the following contributions:

  • Historical studies analyzing the continuity or discontinuity of selected innovations.
  • Review studies systematically documenting evaluations of specific innovations in various educational systems.
  • Research studies providing evaluative evidence of implemented development activities.
  • Discussion papers on the aforementioned topics.
  • Reviews of inspiring publications.
  • Brief analytical reports from evaluation studies, including references to more comprehensive versions where applicable.

  Please submit abstracts of up to 2 pages (3,600 characters) by December 15, 2024, to pedagogika@pedf.cuni.cz, with "Special Issue 2025" in the subject line.

• Invitation to an English monothematic issue for the year 2025

  ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND (NEW) TECHNOLOGIES IN EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE POST-DIGITAL ERA

  We welcome contributions from a diverse range of authors that focus on theoretical and conceptual understandings of the development of AI, empirical aspects of AI technology design for education, and practical experience of teaching and learning about AI in school settings.

  We will also provide a space to reflect on how advanced AI technologies can be used to teach the basic principles of artificial intelligence in order to gain a better understanding of the potential of AI in education. Educational reviews with meta-analyses and meta-syntheses are also welcome in this monothematic issue to provide an overview of existing work and to provide directions for future research in this area. We are also looking for studies that use a consilience of knowledge and interdisciplinary knowledge and focus on application frameworks.

• Pedagogika is preparing a monothematic issue for 2024 on the topic "Well-being of teachers and pupils at school"

  The journal Pedagogika opens up the important topic of psychological well-being of teachers, pupils and other school workers, and wants to publish a separate Czech monothematic issue next year.

  The editorial board welcomes various types of studies on mental well-being in schools. Please send two-page abstracts by June 15, 2023.

  “In favour of the school as an institution in the era of efficient organizations – the school and schooling in the context of recent crises”

  What kind of an “institutional program” has the school today in our western societies? What are the ideals as references to a “foundational act” in the era of instrumental values?

  We are seeking responses to these questions from a wide range of perspectives, not just educational ones, but from political studies, sociology, philosophy and cultural anthropology.

  If you are professionally interested in these topics, please send the abstract of your paper by January 31, 2024.

• Čtyři zastavení s profesorem Jiřím Marešem

  Přečtěte si rozhovor s panem profesorem Jiřím Marešem, který k jeho letošnímu jubileu připravili Tomáš Svatoš a Hana Lukášová.

  Cest, jak sepsat profilující medailon, bylo několik; od komentovaného chronologického přehledu stěžejních publikací přes retrospektivní vzpomínání proti proudu času o tom, jak se „oslavenec“ odborně a lidsky profiloval, až po soupis osobních zkušeností a prožitků pisatelů medailonku s jubilantem. To vše ale neodolalo kritickému pohledu, a tak výslednou cestou, jak si připomenout Jiřího Mareše, bylo přátelské popovídání. Připravili jsme proto několik otázek (doufáme, že zajímavých) a těšili jsme se na jubilantovy odpovědi.

  In this special issue, we welcome contributions that provide both evidence of needed changes or challenges and studies that provide initial insights into how education is responding to these challenges.

  The monothematic issue of Pedagogika in 2023 wants to provide the presentation, analysis, comparison and critical discussion of past and current trends in the development of didactics, both nationally and internationally. Studies dealing with theoretical, resp. methodological bases of didactic concepts, studies conceiving the concept of research in didactics, studies extracting the expertise of didactics for curriculum creation, etc. Please send abstracts by June 15, 2022.
